GW4 Fixture Preview
After a boring international break, it’s time for FPL again! Let’s take a look at the following GW4 fixture to find out the matchups to target in both FPL and DFantasy Best Five!
GW4 Fixture: Obvious matchups
SOU – MUN: United isn’t performing consistently this season so any FPL assets from United at this point are a straight avoid to BUY or WILDCARD in. However, a decent GW4 fixture against Southampton this GW might be another KEEP for anyone who has Bruno or MUN defense! In Best Five, things quite different as United players should be your priorities over the newly promoted club in this head-to-head format. From the Saint, Harwood-Belis with a decent price tag is the most considerable asset, even when you play DFantasy Best Five or WILDCARD early in FPL.
BHA – IPS: The impressive performances from BHA in the first few GW made them one of the most threatening contenders for even the biggest club. Having IPS at home as the GW4 fixture, everyone expects BHA’s assets to have a solid result. Pedro (pen taker, main creator, co-main finisher) and Welbeck (main finisher) are the most targeted assets against the weakest defense in the league.
BHA striker duo both gained 0.2m in the first 3 GW
On the other hand, IPS seems to be solid with their counter attacks so assets like Verbruggen, Dunk or Kadioglu can be a hidden trap in both FPL and Best Five. In this matchup, my priority for Best Five is BHA attackers like Pedro and Welbeck or in a lower priority are Mitoma and Minteh – a triple up from these 4 for me. In the backline, I’d spread the pick for both teams to maximize the CS chances: Verbruggen to avoid multiple-conceded chances + Davis to take advantage of his attacking role and assist ability.
CRY – LEI: Despite the disappointing returns in the start of the season, Crystal Palace is obviously in the upper hand in this GW4 fixture. Leicester has shown that any matches that they are involved in are likely to be the low-scoring matches, CS for Palace is expected – good news for Hendo’s owners. Munoz and Guehi come close as an asset to consider. In the frontline, Mateta and Eze stand out as the main attacking talismans from the Eagles. Eze would be valuable for both games but Mateta will not be that good in FPL currently – more like a Best Five asset to be fair. On the other side, Leicester’s Winks or Faes can be a budget cover for both of your team.
Eze’s owners were so unlucky not to have a single return yet
LIV – NFO: Might be match of the week beside the North London derby! The most impressive underdog against the most impressive title contender so far. Two most solid defenses face off! Despite the beautiful compliment that Forest deserve this season, Liverpool seems a bit overwhelmed for them to handle. Sels for some saves points or hoping for Gibbs-White to step up with a lucky penalty might be enough for GW’s Best Five. In FPL, NFO is still a KEEP or even a START for me based on your team situation – not worth to burn any transfer for a single fixture. As I’ve already mentioned, Liverpool defenders are the no.1 priority to go for at the moment (Trent – Robo – Konate, depends on your budget).
In the frontline, I prefer Salah in FPL for a sustainable plan, especially European football is coming in the next few weeks. In Best Five, where we focus more on current fixture analysis, Jota and Diaz will be way better assets compared to Salah as we only got 35m to spend.
Salah and Haaland are great FPL picks but not that available in the 35.0m meta in Best Five
MCI – BRE: In FPL, Haaland is a close must-have after the back-to-back hattrick but same as Salah, no room for a 15.2m player in a 35m format. I’d rather KDB – the highest xGI midfielder in the game – as a replacement. In the back, Lewis is the most promising Best Five player playing an advanced role for only 4.5m but for a longer term game like FPL, we need to take a patient look at City’s team news. Lewis is a KEEP but AVOID in FPL for me. On the other side, Brentford’s players are slightly overrated by content creators in my opinion as their fixtures are kinda rough.
WOL – NEW: After Neto left the club, Wolves seems to be down pretty quick, which makes Newcastle assets become an easy KEEP for another FPL week and a clear priority in Best Five format. Quick note: the great back-to-back returns for his national team give Isak a huge confidence boost to recover from a few disappointed results.
70-30 matchups
AVL – EVE: At first, this matchup looks pretty one-sided with the dominance of Villa compared to Everton but Everton’s squad depth is not something that you should underestimate. Watkins – Duran – Rogers – Konsa – Pau are the assets to note down, especially in FPL when Villa’s fixtures are phenomenal for the next few matchups.
BOU – CHE: The up and down performances from the London representative made this matchup become a bit hard to predict. Personally, I’d go big on both attacks due to the poor defensive results from both. Palmer – Semenyo – Tanvernier – Jackson are my priority order in Best Five while I’d prefer a HOLD situation in FPL.
Matchups that can go either way
FUL – WHU: Both are the interesting dark horses this season. Fulham and West Ham have their own depth and superstar to shine this season. Whoever picks the right side in this matchup claims the huge advantage to win Best Five this GW. Fulham promising assets: Smith-Rowe – Muniz – Robinson. West Ham priority order: Soucek – Bowen – Areola – Kudus.
TOT – ARS: No need to explain about this match – the most historical and rival derby in the whole league. Arsenal is in the upper hand for their high form and recent season finishes but you can’t jink this kind of derby by those basic data. My prediction is a slight W for the Gunners and both team conceded so I prefer attackers like Saka, Son, Havertz or advanced defenders like Porro in Best Five. Defensive assets like Saliba or Gabriel look more like a long-term KEEP in FPL than a Best Five pick!
