Why Bruno Fernandes’ owners are so unfortunate?
Bruno just got a 0.1m price drop last night. Seem like a lot of managers start losing their patience on the Portuguese midfielder after 2 poor performances.
Disappointed results for Bruno
Bruno disappointed his owners in the first 2 GW and face Liverpool next
Invested 8.5m for a midfielder while TAA and Isak are the must-have means you have to sacrifice at least one of Salah or Haaland. Managers who went for Bruno must be really frustrated as after 2 matches, he still hasn’t scored any returns yet. 5 points after 2 opening matches that are considered to be the “easy” one is not something that you expected from a mid-to-premium asset.
Things even become worse when you watch how United performed in their last 2 fixtures. Against Fulham, who they absolutely dominated, United looked poor. Besides Bruno, nobody seems to be able to create a great threat to Leno’s net. Also, they seem to struggle dealing with the counter attacks. In GW2 against Brighton, things get slightly better but they still can’t find their way out and ended up with a L.
Liverpool at home for the next fixtures, Bruno sounds like an obvious sell atm!
Promising asset
FPL or any fantasy game are sometimes based on luck. You can get bad luck sometimes but at the end of the day, if you put your faith in the good players, it will pay off most of the time.
No matter what type of FPL players you are, eye-test-believer or data-based, you will still find Bruno a really promising asset. As an eye-test-believer watching United matches, you can easily see that Bruno is a talisman who is involved in most of United’s chances, creating and being assisted a bunch of big chances. Unfortunately, he and his teammate failed to convert any of these chances into a FPL return.
For a data-based FPL manager, things are even more obvious! Bruno had 1.2 xGI – highest in the entire league. He is, by far, the player with the highest threat in that match – twice more than any United player. The away game against Brighton, he stepped backward but still dominated the creativity stat. Every stat provides the similar message: Bruno should have scored and assisted in the last 2. If he didn’t, it’s unfortunate. Bad luck does not happen all the time, he likely to score in the next few.
If the Liverpool fixture this weekend still in your mind, remember that United have Southampton in the following week. After that, it’s gonna be Crystal Palace – the team that struggled badly in terms of defense after they sold Andersen. GW6 against Spurs should be really good for attackers. GW9 to 13 are also really promising.
Great run of long-term fixtures for Bruno
Sum up, Bruno had a disappointing start to the season. He shouldn’t be a buy in my opinion if you haven’t owned him. But if he’s already in your team, be patient, stick with the long-term strategy and the logic that bring him to your team.
